About the Accordion Teachers Association of Massachusetts

The Accordion Teachers Association of Massachusetts (ATAM) launched the New England Music
Festival in 1962 as a regional showcase for developing musical talent. Originally with a strong
focus on accordion performance and training, the festival has evolved into one of New England’s premier youth music competitions. For more than six decades, it has nurtured young talent, united music educators and students, and helped launch many young artists’ musical journeys.

The ATAM is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. One of the only talent events in New
England for instruments and voice, the ATAM New England Music Festival has become a key motivator for growth and a celebrated platform for young artists to network, collaborate, and showcase their skills. In 2025, the event welcomed over 850 participants who contributed to more than 3,000 event entries across 125+ competition categories. Over the years, participants have earned prestigious college scholarships and cash prizes totaling over $100,000, as well asregional and national industry awards.

With a legacy of engaging over 15,000 participants, ATAM's 25 member organizations represent five New England States, and continue to inspire the next generation of performers, offering unparalleled training, and opportunities for growth and recognition in the arts.
